We use digital scanning technology to capture a detailed image of your teeth and bite. This allows us to design a bridge that fits securely and looks natural, without the need for uncomfortable dental impressions.
What to expect — Your questions answered
A dental bridge is a restoration that fills the gap left by a missing tooth.
The two teeth on either side of the gap act like support pillars (the clinical name for these is abutment teeth), and the bridge itself holds a false tooth (or teeth) in the middle to “bridge the gap.” Just like a real bridge relies on strong supports to stay stable, a dental bridge relies on the neighbouring teeth to anchor it in place.
A bridge is a secure and natural-looking way to replace one or more missing teeth, as long as you have healthy teeth on either side of it to provide support for the false teeth that will sit in the gap.
Dental bridges are fixed restorations, meaning they are cemented in place and cannot be removed like dentures. With proper care and regular checkups, a bridge can last 10–15 years or longer.
Traditional bridges are anchored to the healthy teeth on either side of the gap. These supporting teeth are crowned to secure the bridge in place. In some cases, implant-supported bridges may be used if multiple teeth are missing.
Getting a bridge is typically a comfortable procedure. We use local anesthesia and gentle techniques to prepare the delicate soft tissue area around the tooth. Most patients experience little to no discomfort, and any post-treatment sensitivity generally resolves quickly.
“Amazing service from everyone here – saw the dentist for the first time, he thoroughly checked my mouth and teeth. I visited the hygienist today and she was excellent and informative as well. Highly recommend.”
